If you are planning to travel, then it is better to take certain precautions than feel sorry later on. At  Northern British Columbia Travel Health and Vaccination Clinic (NBCTHVC), we are here to make sure you receive proper immunization before travelling abroad. Here are some useful tips to travel safely:

Schedule a pre-travel health assessment from a certified travel health clinic
Get a travel health insurance
Carry enough supplies of your regular medication along with prescriptions
Consume only bottled or purified water and avoid ice cubes
Don’t forget to drink plenty of liquids to stay hydrated at all times
It’s better to consume food that is recently cooked and served piping hot
Eat fruits and vegetables that are freshly peeled or cooked
Don’t forget to wash your hands often, and keep a sanitizer handy
To protect yourself against mosquito bites, use repellents containing at least 30% DEET
Avoid animal contact and seek medical advice if you are bitten or scratched by one
Avoid swimming or wading into fresh water and always wear shoes or sandals while walking on the beach
It’s better to use sunblock with a minimum SPF of 15 and wearing a hat can help
Use a condom to protect yourself from sexually transmitted diseases while travelling
Never flash valuables and avoid going out at night
Don’t forget to fasten your seatbelt while travelling / Motor vehicle accidents are one of the most common causes of death among travellers
